How AI Is Changing the Way We Work — And How I’m Using It.

A while ago, the concept of artificial intelligence acting as a helper from a sci-fi movie felt like a dream. But in contemporary times, you can find it almost everywhere. A good example of this is having AI adjust every little detail of our text messages or even coming up with a new series for us to watch on Netflix. With how advanced AI is getting in recent times, there is one major question that needs to be addressed: Will it replace us in the workplace?

As someone who has started learning coding and content creation, my understanding of AI and its capabilities has drastically changed over the last few years. This shift in perception lead me to wonder if AI could completely take over the roles of editors, writers, or programmers, but by the end of my research, it became clear to me that AI does not intend to completely replace us. Rather, it intends to assist us with our work.

1. Everything That is Tedious Work is Now Done By AI.

Nobody likes doing work that is too repetitive or monotonous. Most people will agree that organizing data, setting appointments, and providing the same answers to a bunch of different questions is a waste of time and energy. These activities will easily tires one out mentally. It is for this reason AI is being employed. With the introduction of AI, manual labor is a thing of the past. People can now focus on more substantial work.

From my personal experience, I have found AI to be an ideal automation tool.

My AI writing assistant can polish my work in seconds instead of wasting time proofreading it myself. Instead of struggling through coding tutorials, I simply tell ChatGPT to simplify things for me. AI tools take care of the color adjustment on videos for me.

Instead of replacing people, AI streamlines control work and allows us to concentrate on creativity, problem-solving, and strategy.

2. AI is taking jobs, but it is also creating new ones.

Having said that, traditional employment as we know it may diappear, but those new jobs does seem to pop up at the same rate. For example, freelancing domains are seeing high demand with companies needing people who know how to work AI.

Now almost everyone has heard about prompt engineering. Other new emerging job includes AI ethic specialists. It seems funny, but a decade ago, these were not real job options.

Some of these new AI careers are:

✅ AI Engineers – The ones who build AI tools.

✅ Data Scientists – These professionals make AI smarter through analysis.

✅ AI Content Creators – Writers, artists, and video creators using AI to improve their works.

✅ Freelancers and AI technologies – Marketers, copywriters, and AI advocates alike reap the benefits.

The overarching point? AI is not just augmenting the work economy; it is also creating opportunities for new entrepreneurs to thrive.

3. AI is Making Work More Enjoyable and Easy For Me.

Managing studying, freelance work, and coding is no easy feat, but AI has made it significantly simpler. Instead of suffering through monotonous aspects of work, I use AI for more efficient work.

Some of my favorite AI tools include:

  • ✍️ ChatGPT → An idea generating assistant.
  • 🎨 DALL·E → Custom art creation for marketing pieces.
  • 🎬 Runway ML → Time saving video editing through AI.

I prefer not to think of AI as a competitor, but as a tool that helps me increase my output. This is all my opinion, of course, but I have gotten a lot more efficient.

4. Skills That Are Always on High Demand Are the Following

One thing is for sure - AI can do many things, but nobody will take over a person’s creativity, emotion, or cognition.

In an AI world, I try to develop skills that AI cannot mimic, so I will always be ahead of the game:

  • 📌 Critical Thinking – AI has no emotional aspect, therefore humans will always decide what should be done with the insights generated.
  • 📌 Creativity – AI does not come up with original concepts, people do.
  • 📌 Adaptability – Since AI is rapidly changing, it is crucial to be curious and ever learning.

Ending Remarks: AI Isn’t the Opponent, It’s a Resource

Instead, AI is here to revolutionise the way we work, rather than take our jobs. AI is much like the internet, an advanced tool that was not invented to replace humans, but to serve as an addition that heightens our performance.

One lesson I have learned is this: Your job will not be eliminated by AI. Your role may be rendered obsolete if a competitor understands how to utilize AI to their advantage. I’m embracing change and spending time figuring out how to work with it, you should too if you wish to remain relevant in the industry.
